Lightning Launches EDGE Modular 800V Architecture for Electric Vehicle Development
Lightning has introduced EDGE, a modular 800V electric vehicle architecture aimed at streamlining the development process for OEMs. This software-defined platform reduces R&D costs and risks, enabling faster electrification across various vehicle sectors including automotive, marine, and aviation. The EDGE 8-Cube Architecture features eight subsystems that enhance compatibility, charging speed, and development efficiency, representing nearly two decades of engineering advancements.

Lightning has unveiled EDGE, a modular 800V electric vehicle architecture that simplifies and accelerates the development of advanced electric platforms for OEMs. The EDGE system reduces R&D costs and technical risks, allowing manufacturers in motorcycles, marine, automotive, and electric aviation to directly pursue production.
The EDGE 8-Cube Architecture includes eight interoperable subsystems designed for scalability and efficiency, such as an adaptive architecture, high-voltage drive system, and extreme fast charging capabilities. This approach aims to standardize high-performance EV development, reducing bottlenecks in deployment across global markets.
