Lightwheel Secures $145M to Enhance Robotics Data Infrastructure
Lightwheel has raised $145 million to develop essential simulation and data infrastructure for robotics, achieving unicorn status. The investment addresses the challenge of insufficient training data for physical AI systems, vital for their advancement in unstructured environments.

Lightwheel has secured approximately $145 million (RMB 1 billion) through combined Series A++ and A+++ funding rounds, marking its status as the first unicorn focusing on embodied data infrastructure. The company has developed a three-layer data engine comprising SimReady for simulation environments, EgoSuite for human demonstration data, and RoboFinals for industrial application evaluations.
CEO Steve Xie emphasizes overcoming the 'data wall' as critical for improving AI in robotics. In June 2026, Lightwheel expanded through joint ventures with Wuxi Boton Technology, IAT, and Yusys Technologies, targeting high-risk sectors like industrial and mining robotics. This growth indicates a strategic focus on enhancing the capabilities of robotic systems, addressing a significant barrier to their reliability and effectiveness.
