Lil'wat Nation Secures $1.5 Million for Brandywine Hydrogen Project in Canada
The Lil'wat Nation has received over $1.5 million in federal funding for the Brandywine Hydrogen Project in Brandywine, Canada. This project aims to produce clean hydrogen using renewable electricity from the Brandywine Creek Hydroelectric Project, contributing to carbon emission reduction and aligning with Indigenous cultural values. The initiative, part of the Clean Fuels Fund, is expected to produce up to four tonnes of clean hydrogen daily, displacing five million liters of diesel and reducing 16,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

The Brandywine Hydrogen Project, coordinated by the Lil'wat Nation, has been awarded over $1.5 million from the Clean Fuels Fund to develop clean hydrogen production in Brandywine, Canada. The project will leverage renewable energy from the Brandywine Creek Hydroelectric Project to produce clean hydrogen via electrolysis, aiming to displace carbon emissions.
Once operational, it will generate up to four tonnes of clean hydrogen daily, replacing five million liters of diesel annually and cutting CO2 emissions by nearly 16,000 tonnes. The project is in the front-end engineering phase and reflects the commitment to Indigenous-led clean fuel innovation.
