Suzel and Babette, two teenagers from Rathkeale, are participating in a global humanitarian aid convoy to Cuba, comprising approximately 700 people. They attend Coláiste Chiaráin and have family in Cuba, visiting almost annually.
Suzel notes cultural differences but also similarities in daily life, while acknowledging the impact of the US blockade on local resources. She is running a project to promote a circular economy at a daycare center, funded by community donations. The convoy is delivering essential supplies, such as medicines, solar lamps, and hygiene items.
