LindsayCA, the US-based energy company, is poised to expand its workforce by hiring an additional 100 personnel over the next 30 days to facilitate the ongoing construction of a significant 300 megawatt gas-to-energy plant in Wales, West Bank Demerara. This strategic move comes as the company prepares for the installation of its first gas turbine, an event eagerly anticipated in the energy sector.

President Irfaan Ali shared this development via his official Facebook account, indicating that the pouring of concrete for the remaining turbine foundations is set to be completed shortly. Currently, over 300 individuals are employed on the project, underscoring its scale and importance. According to Winston Brassington, head of the gas-to-energy task force, the first foundation for the gas turbine is scheduled for completion on the evening of September 9.

This ambitious endeavor is part of a larger $759 million initiative to establish a combined cycle gas facility that will ultimately result in reduced electricity costs for consumers in Guyana. Prime Minister Mark Phillips previously stated that the project aims for completion by mid-2026, although there have been no recent updates regarding any changes to the project timeline.

During a recent briefing, Brassington revealed that seven proposals have been received for the project's second phase, which envisions an additional 300 megawatt power plant alongside a new natural gas liquids facility. Discussions are currently underway to finalize pre-qualified firms for the next steps in engineering, procurement, construction, and financing.

Moreover, President Ali received updates on the Wales industrial zone where plans are being laid out for a data center, an ammonia urea plant, and a glass factory. In a related development, discussions are advancing regarding the allocation of 20,000 cubic feet of gas daily for a fertilizer plant, which aims to produce an impressive 300 tonnes of urea per year.

In a noteworthy organizational shift, LindsayCA announced its operations under the name LindsayCA Guyana Inc., following an internal restructuring intended to enhance its technical and operational capabilities. By onboarding highly qualified professionals, the company aims to uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance, all while adhering to the established project schedule.
