Liontown Initiates Expansion of Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation
Liontown (ASX:LTR) has commenced early works for the expansion of its Kathleen Valley lithium project, targeting a final investment decision by Q1 FY27. This strategic move includes the procurement of a 5.5MW ball mill, essential for increasing production capacity and enhancing operational efficiency.

Liontown plans to invest between $15 million and $18 million in early works for the Kathleen Valley lithium expansion in FY26, with total pre-FID expenditures projected to reach $77 million. The procurement of a $12 million ball mill is crucial for increasing plant throughput and optimizing recovery rates.
Concurrently, pre-development drilling at the Northwest Flats orebody is aimed at resource definition and mine scheduling, while underground development is progressing to facilitate ore access from Kathleen's Corner. Infrastructure enhancements, including the construction of the Mine Services Area, are also underway. These initiatives are designed to mitigate risks and position Liontown favorably as lithium market conditions improve, with the final investment decision anticipated by the end of Q1 FY27.
