Lios Secures €2M ESA Contract to Enhance Acoustic Technology for Space
Lios, a Dublin-based start-up, renews its contract with the European Space Agency for €2 million to scale production of its SoundBounce technology over two years. This contract aims to address noise and vibration challenges during space flight, essential for protecting sensitive payloads.

Lios has renewed its contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for €2 million, focusing on manufacturing and testing its SoundBounce acoustic technology. This advanced material, designed to mitigate low-frequency noise and vibration during space travel, is four times thinner and 40% lighter than conventional options.
The contract's third phase will last for two years and includes flight qualification assessments for space environments. Founded in 2009 and initially known as Restored Hearing, Lios has been collaborating with ESA since 2021 under the Future Launchers Preparatory Programme. The company's technology is crucial for minimizing interference that can damage payloads, underlining its importance in the evolving European space sector.
