Lockhart City Council Approves Infrastructure Projects and Tax Increment Zone Creation

The Lockhart City Council met on February 22 to discuss various policy and infrastructure matters. A police facility needs assessment by PGAL highlighted operational shortcomings and future requirements, leading to authorization for potential property acquisition for a new police headquarters.

The Council approved a resolution for a public hearing on creating a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone for the Seawillow development project, covering 89.775 acres. Additionally, Cemetery Maintenance Agreement was renewed with Maintenance Management, LLC.

An agreement was made with Techline Construction for the LK20 Copper Replacement Project, part of a five-year capital improvement plan. Changes were approved for the Downtown Revitalization Project and planning-related text amendments.

TxDOT announced the completion of the Lockhart Maintenance Facility and upcoming signal improvements. Updates were provided on Caldwell County 2024 Road Bond projects, and recruitment for the new Downtown and Tourism Director position will begin soon.
