Logan County Residents Oppose $5B Data Center Proposed by Hut8 in Illinois
DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTUREDEFENSE
Logan County residents are opposing a proposed 250-acre data center in Illinois due to concerns over farmland loss, infrastructure strain, and the impact of big tech on the rural community. The initiative, spearheaded by Mount Pulaski native Kelly Cubberly, has gathered nearly 1,000 signatures. Cubberly, an IT professional and Army veteran, initiated the petition to increase public awareness about the project, which is proposed by Canadian company Hut8 and supported by investors including Meta and BlackRock.
