Led by local IT professional Kelly Cubberly, the initiative has garnered nearly 1,000 signatures to raise public awareness of the project, which is backed by investors including Meta and BlackRock.

Logan County residents are opposing a proposed 250-acre data center in Illinois due to concerns over farmland loss, infrastructure strain, and the impact of big tech on the rural community. The initiative, spearheaded by Mount Pulaski native Kelly Cubberly, has gathered nearly 1,000 signatures. Cubberly, an IT professional and Army veteran, initiated the petition to increase public awareness about the project, which is proposed by Canadian company Hut8 and supported by investors including Meta and BlackRock.
