Loughborough University has been shortlisted in the Innovation Project category at the Hydrogen UK Awards for its battery electrolyser system, which produces 22 litres of clean hydrogen per minute. The system, utilizing recyclable materials, is designed for affordability and safety.

It has received over £12 million in funding and support from over 20 partners, including Monbat and Hoppecke. The first unit was tested in July 2025 and has been sent to Malawi for commissioning. The awards ceremony will take place on 10 March at Birmingham NCC.
