LS Cable Expands Global Operations with Eco-Friendly Copper Plant in South Korea
LS Cable & System's subsidiary, Korea Future Materials, has launched a new eco-friendly copper materials plant in Gunsan. This facility enhances LS Cable's position in the global supply chain for cables and batteries, focusing on sustainability and reduced carbon emissions.
Korea Future Materials has inaugurated a new eco-friendly copper materials plant in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, bolstering LS Cable's competitiveness in the cable and battery supply chain. The plant produces various advanced materials, including recycled copper, Cuflake, oxygen-free copper, and copper alloys, significantly cutting carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional mining.
The introduction of Cuflake, an eco-friendly copper foil material, aims to streamline production and lower costs. LS Cable is working towards establishing a circular supply chain in South Korea while enhancing its presence in North America through affiliates. Korea Future Materials was formed in 2023 and continues to build on over sixty years of copper processing experience.
