Lumentum Holdings Inc plans to open a 240,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, for indium phosphide lasers, crucial for AI data centers. The site, acquired from Qorvo Inc, will retrofit existing operations to enhance production capacity, with NVIDIA as a key customer. Lumentum aims to invest hundreds of millions and create over 400 jobs, supporting the U.S. supply chain and advanced manufacturing capabilities by mid-2028.

Lumentum Holdings Inc will establish a new manufacturing facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, to produce indium phosphide (InP)-based optical devices for AI data centers. The 240,000 sq ft site, acquired from Qorvo Inc, will be retrofitted and is expected to ramp production by mid-2028.
Lumentum plans to invest hundreds of millions of dollars and create over 400 jobs. NVIDIA will be a customer, supporting U.S. infrastructure and research. This expansion aims to enhance supply chain resilience and bolster advanced manufacturing capabilities.
