Macquarie Eyes $25bn Stack APAC Data Centers Amid AI Demand Surge
Stack APAC data centers are poised for a significant ownership change, attracting a potential bid from Macquarie as the assets are valued over $25 billion. This transaction underscores the increasing importance of hyperscale data centers driven by AI and cloud computing needs.

Stack APAC data centers, currently under Blue Owl Capital, are preparing for a sale process expected to exceed $25 billion. Reports suggest that Macquarie is considering joining Global Infrastructure Partners in pursuit of the portfolio, which spans critical infrastructure across Asia-Pacific.
The Australian portfolio includes substantial capacity, with Sydney at 360MW and Melbourne at 432MW across two campuses, totaling nearly 800MW. The sale comes amid rising demand for digital infrastructure driven by AI workloads, with participants likely needing to bid for the entire portfolio, potentially leading to consortium bids. The formal bidding process has yet to commence, and while several institutional investors are interested, the competitive landscape may be influenced by the transaction's final terms.
