Madhya Pradesh Launches SpaceTech Policy to Establish R&D Centre and Satellite Development
The Madhya Pradesh SpaceTech Policy aims to create a dedicated Research and Development Centre in Ujjain in collaboration with IIT Indore or a similar institute. Approved by the cabinet, the centre will focus on astrophysics, deep space observation, and satellite-based analytics, integrating traditional astronomical knowledge with modern space science.
The state plans to design, develop, launch, and operate a satellite named MP-SAT, with an investment of up to Rs 500 crore for various phases, including satellite development and launch services. The policy also aims to attract 30 space-tech startups, investments of Rs 900 crore, and generate 2,000 skilled jobs within five years.
Infrastructure development for satellite manufacturing and testing is a key focus, supported by over 300 industrial parks. Additionally, a Space Exploration Park, Antariksh Vihar, will be established to promote scientific curiosity.
