Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Conducts Black Start Mock Drill at Pench Hydroelectric Power Station
The Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited, in collaboration with Maharashtra State Power Transmission Company, conducted a black start mock drill at the Pench Hydroelectric Power Station to ensure rapid power system restoration during emergencies. The exercise successfully backed up approximately 5,000 MW of generating capacity, with officials emphasizing the importance of continuous training for black-start-capable power plants to mitigate potential economic and social losses. The 160 MW Pench Hydropower Station is the sole hydropower facility in Central India and the Vidarbha region.

The Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited conducted a black start mock drill with Maharashtra State Power Transmission Company at the Pench Hydroelectric Power Station. This exercise aimed to ensure rapid restoration of the power system in case of emergencies or failures in the national power grid.
Approximately 5,000 MW of generating capacity was backed up in Maharashtra during the drill. Key officials, including managing director Manjeet Singh, acknowledged the success of the exercise, highlighting the importance of continuous readiness and training of black-start-capable power plants to minimize economic and social losses. The 160 MW Pench Hydropower Station is the only hydropower facility in Central India and the Vidarbha region.
