Majan Council Identifies 30 Clean Energy Sectors to Drive Oman's Economic Growth
The Majan Council's report identifies 30 clean energy sectors poised to enhance Oman's economic growth, focusing on areas such as energy development, manufacturing, and final products. Key projects include the United Solar Polysilicon facility and a $488 million battery materials project in Salalah. The study underscores the need to integrate these sectors into the national economy for sustainable development.

A report by the Majan Council identifies 30 clean energy-related sectors with potential to drive Oman's growth. The study, titled 'Foresight for Resilience: The Oman Clean Energy Strategic Outlook,' was developed with the Oman Energy Association and supported by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and the Ministry of Labour.
The sectors are categorized into Energy Development and Services, Manufacturing, and Final Products. Manufacturing focuses on battery and electrolyser production, carbon capture technologies, fuel cells, and solar PV panels, among others.
The report emphasizes the importance of integrating these sectors into Oman's economy. Current projects include the United Solar Polysilicon facility in SOHAR Port, JA Solar's manufacturing facility in Suhar, and Mawarid Turbine's wind turbine facility in Duqm. Additionally, a $488 million battery materials project in Salalah aims to produce lithium battery components.
