Major Road Resurfacing Project in Campoamor Set to Start Amid Infrastructure Backlog
A €883,179 road resurfacing project in Campoamor will commence this summer, raising concerns over tourist disruption and infrastructure delays. The project, spanning six months, is part of a larger €12.9 million public investment backlog in Orihuela Costa.

Orihuela City Council has contracted Zaplana Caselles for €883,179 to resurface Miguel de Cervantes Street, with work projected to last six months. The project is partially funded (45%) by the Alicante Provincial Council through the Planifica program.
Concerns arise as construction coincides with the busy tourist season, leading city officials to consider mitigation strategies to minimize traffic disruptions. Additionally, an upgrade of the drinking water network under the same road must occur first, with its contract expected by May and a three-month execution. A backlog in public investment totaling €12.9 million includes unspent funds for various infrastructure projects, presenting challenges ahead of the 2027 elections.
