Malawi Appoints Professor Kalindekafe as CEO of Mining Investment Company
Professor Leornard Kalindekafe has been appointed as the first CEO of the Malawi Mining Investment Company (MAMICO), established to enhance mining investments aligned with national development goals. This strategic move follows recent government efforts to revitalize the extractive sector, including the appointment of Dr. Kenneth Zikhale Ng'oma as minister.

Professor Leornard Kalindekafe has been named the inaugural CEO of the Malawi Mining Investment Company (MAMICO), created under the Malawi Development Corporation Holdings Limited to promote mining investments. This initiative aligns with Malawi Vision 2063, highlighting mining as a key area for industrialization.
Recent discoveries of rutile and graphite position Malawi favorably in the global supply chain, supporting the government's commitment to a sustainable mining sector. Minister Ng'oma has encouraged investments in the mining sector and emphasized its role in economic diversification. The focus on mining, agriculture, and tourism is critical for aligning with global energy transitions and national development strategies.
