Malaysia and Singapore Accelerate Economic Zone and Green Tech Collaboration
Malaysia and Singapore are advancing the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and enhancing cooperation in green technology, particularly in carbon capture. This initiative aims to strengthen economic ties and prepare both nations for global energy challenges.

Malaysia's Economy Minister announced that discussions are underway to expedite the JS-SEZ, which aims to enhance investment flows between Malaysia and Singapore. Both countries are also focusing on collaboration in green technologies, specifically carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), amid rising geopolitical tensions affecting energy supplies.
Additionally, the recent visit of Australia's Prime Minister included meetings to reinforce bilateral cooperation in energy, trade, and agriculture, addressing concerns about the Middle East conflict's impact on energy stability. The partnership is expected to yield significant economic and job opportunities for younger workers in the region.
