Malaysia Proposes National Combat UAS Development to Enhance Aerospace Sector

Malaysia's Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, announced plans for a National Combat Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) to strengthen the national aerospace sector. The initiative will utilize local expertise and foreign technology, with cooperation from allied nations, including potential technological collaboration with Iran.
This aligns with the National Defence Industry Policy aimed at reducing foreign dependence and fostering local research and development. The Minister emphasized the need for Malaysia to transition from being a technology consumer to an innovator in its defense capabilities. This development could enhance Malaysia's strategic capabilities and self-defense.
