The Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA) has highlighted an image of the Horsehead Nebula captured by the Langkawi National Observatory (LNO) in January 2024. The nebula, situated in the Orion constellation about 1,375 light-years from Earth, consists of molecular hydrogen gas and dense interstellar dust, creating its distinctive horse-head shape.
The image was taken using a TMB152 telescope and a ZWO ASI2600MM camera. The Horsehead Nebula is a popular target for astrophotography, offering a rewarding challenge for amateur astronomers despite its relative ease of location within Orion's Belt.
