Man Injured at Mesa Substation After Tampering with Equipment
A man was hospitalized following an incident of tampering with electrical equipment at a Salt River Project substation in Mesa. The investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the tampering, but there were no power disruptions reported.

On June 21, a man was hospitalized after tampering with equipment at a Salt River Project (SRP) substation in Mesa around 5 a.m. Officers found the individual injured due to electrical shock while conducting a welfare check near Elliot and Signal Butte roads.
SRP confirmed the facility was a substation, which manages high-voltage power distribution. Despite the incident, no power outages occurred for SRP customers. The man's identity has not been disclosed as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tampering continues, raising concerns over safety and security at utility facilities.
