Manitowoc County Advances Moratorium on Data Center Development
Manitowoc County's Planning and Park Commission has approved a moratorium on data center permits. This action follows local towns' concerns over proposed data center projects, aiming to regulate land use amidst rising interest from developers.

The Manitowoc County Planning and Park Commission has moved to implement a moratorium on applications and permits for data center construction. This decision stems from a coalition of three towns—Mishicot, Two Rivers, and Two Creeks—who expressed concerns after land purchase proposals for data centers were made to local farms by Cloverleaf Infrastructure and NSI Land Services.
The county board's approval is required for the moratorium to take effect, with an organizational meeting scheduled on April 21. The suspension reflects growing tensions regarding land use and development priorities in the region, potentially influencing future economic strategies.
