Marana Town Council Approves Rezoning for 600-Acre Luckett Road Hyperscale Data Center
The Marana Town Council unanimously approved the rezoning of two parcels of agricultural land totaling over 600 acres for the Luckett Road hyperscale data center. The center will require up to 750 megawatts at full capacity.
The project, previously known as the 'Jaguar West Project', received both support and opposition from over 50 speakers during the meeting. Councilmember Herb Kai recused himself due to a conflict of interest.
The project seeks to modify the 2040 General Plan and comply with a 2024 ordinance on data center regulations. An additional condition mandates the removal of all data center hardware if the use is discontinued. The Planning and Zoning Commission had previously recommended the rezoning despite local pushback.
