Maringá Explores Public Data Center Project Amid Private Initiative
Maringá's city government is considering a public data center to support local agencies, while a private project awaits federal approval. The dual initiatives highlight the city's strategy to enhance its export processing zone (ZPE) and attract investment.

The Prefeitura de Maringá is assessing the feasibility of establishing a public data center, aimed at supporting municipal operations, especially the Zona de Processamento de Exportações (ZPE). Mayor Silvio Barros met with Takoda Data Centers in São Paulo to discuss necessary infrastructure.
Concurrently, RT-One's $6 billion private data center project remains pending, awaiting federal incentives linked to the ZPE's approval. The public data center could progress faster due to existing exemptions. Barros emphasized that both projects are independent, yet both aim to boost the region's technological capacity and competitiveness in the global market.
