Mars Materials has joined the Shell GameChanger program to advance a sustainable, hydrogen cyanide-free acrylonitrile production process using CO2 and bio-based feedstocks. The company has progressed past the initial stage gate of the program, which supports early-stage innovations in chemical production.

Its pilot plant, Cassini, has scaled from gram to kilogram production, validating the process. Mars Materials is also exploring bio-based sugar feedstock to enhance sustainability and supply chain resilience. The partnership with Shell is expected to shorten development timelines by approximately three years and assist in commercial strategy and market validation.
