Maryland Secures Nearly $30 Million for Water Infrastructure and Chesapeake Bay Projects

Maryland has been allocated $29,636,000 in federal funding for 28 projects under the fiscal year 2026 Interior Environmental Appropriations bill. The funding addresses upgrading drinking water infrastructure, stormwater management, and historic site preservation.
Key projects include the replacement of the Newark Water Treatment Plant, enhancements to the Windmill Pump Station to reduce sewage spills, and upgrades to wastewater treatment facilities in Trappe and Hurlock. The bill also secures $93 million for the EPA's Chesapeake Bay Program and additional funds for related ecological research and programs.
