Massena Proposes Law to Allow Data Centers in Industrial Zone with Public Hearing
The town of Massena has proposed a law to allow data centers in an industrial zone, with a public hearing set for January 21 at 4:30 p.m. This amendment responds to a request from the St. Lawrence County Planning Board concerning Petawatt Holdings' site plan for a data center substation, as current zoning laws do not permit utilities and substations in industrial areas. County officials have recommended updating the town's code to include support services as a permitted use if the Zoning Board of Appeals approves Petawatt's request.
