Materia AI Secures Grant for UK's First AI-Driven EV Battery Recycling Platform ReGenTrace AI
Materia AI has secured a government grant to launch ReGenTrace AI, the UK's first AI-driven platform for circular EV battery recycling. This innovative system will enhance the collection and processing of end-of-life EV batteries using machine learning, predictive modeling, and blockchain technology, addressing the rising demand for critical minerals. The initial modules are expected to be operational by the end of March, following validation at a UK battery recycler.

Materia AI has received government grant support for ReGenTrace AI, the UK's first AI-driven platform for a circular EV battery ecosystem. This funding will modernize the collection, processing, and return of end-of-life EV batteries to the supply chain.
ReGenTrace AI is a cloud-native system integrating machine learning, predictive modeling, and blockchain traceability to automate and enhance transparency in EV battery recycling. The platform addresses the anticipated rise in end-of-life EV batteries and the growing demand for critical minerals by establishing a circular supply chain to ensure long-term resilience.
It aims to optimize logistics, real-time materials identification, black-mass prediction, AI-guided materials development, blockchain traceability, market forecasting, and carbon optimization. The first modules are expected to be operational by the end of March, validated through an MVP deployment at a UK battery recycler, with support from Innovate UK's Early Stage Growth Catalyst competition.
