Matthews Auto Group to Transform Former Toys 'R' Us into Nissan Dealership
Matthews Auto Group purchased the former Toys 'R' Us in Clay for $3 million to relocate its Nissan dealership. This move aligns with the company's broader strategy of expanding automotive operations amid local economic growth driven by Micron Technology's semiconductor facility.

In July, Matthews Auto Group acquired the former Toys 'R' Us site at Great Northern Mall for $3 million. The Vestal-based company plans to relocate its Clay Nissan dealership there, with plans to enhance visibility and accessibility along Route 31 and Interstate 481.
This site will facilitate a larger dealership structure and support the revitalization of the area, driven by the economic impact of Micron Technology's upcoming semiconductor plant. Construction timelines are under consideration, with Matthews aiming to maintain customer service during the transition. The existing Nissan facility will evolve into a Subaru dealership, indicating a strategic expansion of Matthews' automotive brands.
