MCFN and HOPA Ports Collaborate to Reactivate Hamilton Biodiesel Facility
HOPA Ports and the Mississaugas of the Credit Business Corporation have partnered to restart a biodiesel facility in Hamilton, Ontario. This initiative emphasizes Indigenous-led investment and aims to enhance Ontario's clean energy infrastructure while creating over 70 jobs.

A new partnership between HOPA Ports and the Mississaugas of the Credit Business Corporation (MCBC) aims to reactivate the Hamilton biodiesel facility, previously at risk of permanent closure. Biidaaban Renewable Energy, with MCBC holding a 51% stake, will manage operations at the Port of Hamilton.
The facility is expected to reduce CO₂e emissions by about 130,000 tonnes annually. Recent regulatory changes in Ontario and federal support for biofuels have created a favorable environment for this restart.
The project will contribute to energy security, emissions reduction, and economic resilience in Canada. The restart is anticipated later this summer.
