MEL Composites Delivers Lightweight Hull for Técnico Solar Boat's Hydrogen-Powered Prototype

MEL Composites has supplied a lightweight hull for the São Gabriel 01, a hydrogen-powered prototype developed by Técnico Solar Boat. This collaboration, evolving over three years, utilized MEL's precision infusion technology to optimize the hull's balance of lightness, stiffness, and hydrodynamic performance.

The infusion process featured Sicomin InfuGreen 810 epoxy resin, a bio-based marine-grade formulation, and Aircell PVC foam core materials to enhance structural integrity. MEL provided a comprehensive range of vacuum infusion consumables to ensure consistent quality and performance. The São Gabriel 01 is designed to hydrofoil, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce drag as Técnico Solar Boat prepares for international competition in 2026.
