Mercedes GLE and GLS SUVs Introduce AI and Significant Upgrades with $7 Billion Investment
Mercedes plans to invest $7 billion over four years in the U.S., introducing upgraded GLE and GLS models featuring advanced AI technology. The integration of the MB.OS supercomputer enhances driving automation and infotainment systems.

Mercedes has unveiled updated GLE SUV and Coupé as well as GLS models produced in Alabama, supported by a $7 billion investment over the next four years. These vehicles will feature the MB.OS supercomputer, which connects multiple technologies through various sensors.
The GLE and GLS models leverage a mild hybrid 48V system, boosting power across their engine range, with diesel variants now offering between 286 and 367 horsepower. A plug-in hybrid GLE 450e combines 326 horsepower from a gasoline engine with an additional 135 from an electric unit.
AMG versions of the GLE also receive enhancements, with the GLE 53 4Matic+ producing 466 horsepower and the 53 Hybrid plug delivering a total of 585 horsepower. These upgrades signify a shift toward greater efficiency and performance, while the aesthetic updates focus on enhanced lighting and digital technologies.
