Mercuria Energy Trading SA has completed its first transaction for copper and cobalt with Entreprise Générale du Cobalt. The copper cathodes are designated for shipment to the United States, United Arab Emirates, or Saudi Arabia. This transaction highlights the Democratic Republic of Congo's role in the critical metals market and follows a joint venture announcement between Gécamines and Mercuria in 2025.
