Mercury Energy's Kaiwera Downs Wind Farm Nears Completion Ahead of Schedule
Mercury Energy's Kaiwera Downs wind farm, with a total investment of $486 million, is ahead of schedule for completion. The project will consist of 36 turbines across two stages, generating power for 73,000 homes and achieving a capacity of 155MW.

Mercury Energy is advancing in the construction of its Kaiwera Downs wind farm, with 28 of the 36 turbines installed, and is projected to be operational by the end of August. The project, which commenced two years ago, has been facilitated by favorable summer weather and is currently on track and within budget.
A new substation is operational, and 34 km of access roads have been constructed. Installation, testing, and commissioning of the turbines will be completed in the upcoming months. The total project cost is $486 million, and at full capacity, it will yield 155MW. Risks may arise from potential delays in final testing phases or adverse weather conditions that could impact the completion timeline.
