Meridian City Council Approves Jaycee Soccer Complex Parking Expansion and Eighth Street Improvements
The Meridian City Council has approved multiple projects, including an expansion of parking at the Jaycee Soccer Complex and an agreement with Neel-Schaffer for Eighth Street improvements. The parking expansion will add spaces on the north side of the complex, though costs remain undetermined as funding sources are being evaluated.
Parks and Recreation has some budget allocation for the project, but internet use tax funds cannot be utilized. The council also approved a $20,250 supplemental agreement with Neel-Schaffer for Eighth Street improvements, funded by a TAP grant, which includes intersection geometry corrections.
Additionally, a change order for $158,743.42 with Hemphill Construction was approved for urgent equipment replacements at the east wastewater treatment plant. This change order exceeds the state's $75,000 bidding requirement but was deemed necessary and commercially reasonable by the council, which voted 4-1 in favor.
