Meta Acquires Manus for $2-3 Billion to Enhance AI Capabilities Across Platforms

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Meta has acquired Manus, a startup specializing in general-purpose AI agents, for an estimated $2 billion to $3 billion. This acquisition aims to enhance Meta's applications, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, by integrating autonomous AI agents capable of planning and executing tasks.

Manus, which recently achieved over $100 million in Annual Recurring Revenue, utilizes a Multi-Agent Architecture to streamline task execution. The deal aligns with Meta's broader strategy to invest significantly in AI infrastructure, with projected capital expenditure of $64 billion to $74 billion in 2025.

This acquisition also addresses the gap in AI infrastructure for small and medium enterprises in Africa, where WhatsApp is a primary business tool. Meta plans to fully automate advertising by the end of 2026, enabling business owners to upload product images and set budgets for AI-managed campaigns.
