Meta Acquires Manus to Integrate General-Purpose AI Across Products

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Meta has acquired Manus, an AI platform developed by Butterfly Effect, aiming to integrate its technology into Meta's consumer and business products, including Meta AI. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Manus will maintain its subscription service while its technology is incorporated into Meta's AI stack, and its team will join Meta as employees. Founded in China and now headquartered in Singapore, Butterfly Effect claims Manus achieved approximately $100 million in annual recurring revenue within eight months of launch.

Manus uses cloud-hosted virtual machines to perform tasks such as screening job applicants by analyzing CVs. Meta has committed significant investment to AI infrastructure and has made multiple acquisitions in the AI space in 2025. The future role of Manus within Meta, whether as a standalone service or integrated into existing products, will become clearer as integrations progress.
