Metal Powder Works to Collaborate with AMS on UK MOD's Project TAMPA for 3D Printed Components
Metal Powder Works (MPW) will support Additive Manufacturing Solutions in producing parts for the UK's Project TAMPA, part of the Ministry of Defence's additive manufacturing programme. A Purchase Order has been placed for a component using Laser Powder Bed Fusion technology and MPW's titanium powder. This project marks MPW's first involvement with a NATO defence programme and aims to validate its DirectPowder titanium capability. The initiative seeks to enhance the integration of additive manufacturing within the MOD's supply chain.

Metal Powder Works (MPW) is collaborating with Additive Manufacturing Solutions on Project TAMPA, a UK MOD initiative, to manufacture parts using Laser Powder Bed Fusion technology and MPW's titanium powder. A Purchase Order has been issued for a specific component, with the project conducted in conjunction with the US Department of Defense.
Although the contract's value is not significant for MPW, it represents the company's first engagement with NATO defence programmes and could open new market opportunities for its DirectPowder titanium and specialty alloy capabilities. Project TAMPA aims to implement additive manufacturing for prototyping and production within the MOD supply chain, with prior successful deliveries already noted.
