MetPac-SA Enhances Metal Packaging Recycling in South Africa Through Industry Collaboration
MetPac-SA, the Metal Packaging Association of South Africa, is leading efforts to improve metal packaging recycling as part of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework. With an expanded scope from January 2024 to include aerosol packaging, the organization aims to invest in post-consumer metal recovery and promote a circular economy. A recent Member Satisfaction Survey indicated strong confidence in MetPac-SA's performance in regulatory compliance and waste management initiatives.

MetPac-SA is a key player in South Africa's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, representing the metal packaging industry. From January 2024, it will include aluminium and steel aerosol packaging in its scope.
The organization aims to enhance post-consumer metal recovery and promote sustainability through industry collaboration. A Member Satisfaction Survey conducted at the end of 2025 showed high confidence in MetPac-SA's regulatory compliance and waste collection efforts. The organization focuses on building efficient recycling systems and supporting the integration of waste pickers, contributing to a circular economy.
