Metro Vancouver Approves $12 Million Contract for Annacis Island Biosolids Dryer Project
Metro Vancouver's Liquid Waste Committee has endorsed a $12 million contract for the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant's Regional Biosolids Dryer Project, needed by the mid-2030s. The dryer will produce granular pellets for low carbon fuel and fertilizer, aligning with the region's Liquid Waste Management Plan. The total project budget is $13.3 million, covering preliminary design costs.

The Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant (AIWWTP) is set to undergo a Regional Biosolids Dryer Project to accommodate population growth and increased biosolids production. Metro Vancouver's Liquid Waste Committee has endorsed a consulting engineering services contract valued at nearly $12 million, finalized on October 31, 2025.
The biosolids dryer will produce granular pellets for use as low carbon fuel and fertilizer, consistent with the Liquid Waste Management Plan. A total budget of $13.3 million is allocated for the project's preliminary design.
