Metso Outotec Enhances Pori Center with TIMA-Analyzer for Mining Efficiency
Metso Outotec is upgrading its Pori research center with the TIMA-Analyzer to address declining ore quality in mining. This investment aims to help clients improve processing efficiency amidst challenges in maintaining production levels.

Metso Outotec is introducing the TIMA-Analyzer at its Pori center, leveraging electron microscopy and X-ray spectroscopy to analyze ore samples automatically. This initiative responds to the global decline in copper and gold concentrations, which complicates production for mining operators.
The investment aligns with Metso's broader strategy focused on energy and water-saving technologies, including a partnership formed in May 2026 with Loesche to develop energy-efficient vertical mills for various ores. Despite these advancements, Metso's stock has underperformed, losing 7.08% over the past week and 1.85% year-to-date, indicating challenges in market response. The upcoming quarterly results will be critical in assessing the effectiveness of these strategies.
