Meva Energy Receives EBC Certification for Biochar Production in Kisa, Sweden
Meva Energy AB has achieved European Biochar Certificate (EBC) certification for its biochar produced in Kisa, Sweden. This certification confirms that the biochar meets strict European standards for quality, transparency, and environmental performance. Biochar, a stable carbon-rich material made from biomass, is generated as a by-product of the thermochemical gasification process at Meva's plant, which uses locally sourced wood pellets. The EBC certification enhances Meva's credibility in the sustainable biochar market.

Meva Energy AB has secured the European Biochar Certificate (EBC) for biochar produced at its Kisa plant in Sweden. This certification verifies compliance with strict European standards for quality, transparency, and environmental performance.
The biochar is created through thermochemical gasification of locally sourced wood pellets, with the process also generating renewable biosyngas used by an adjacent tissue mill. The EBC certification, developed by the Ithaka Institute, confirms quality, traceability, and low emissions during production. Meva Energy's certification marks a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainable practices in biochar production.
