Mexico Establishes Naval Aviation Day to Commemorate 100 Years of Naval Aviation
Mexico will designate March 15, 2026, as Naval Aviation Day to commemorate 100 years of naval aviation, highlighting its role in maritime operations. The Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR) will issue the measure, which will be published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF). The date marks the founding of the Seaplane Corps in 1926, the precursor to today's naval aviation. The observance will promote the strategic importance of naval aviation in surveillance and security missions.

On March 15, 2026, Mexico will celebrate 100 years of naval aviation with the newly established Naval Aviation Day. This observance, designated by the Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR), aims to recognize the role of aeronaval forces in maritime operations such as surveillance and security.
The date commemorates the founding of the Seaplane Corps in 1926. A ceremony in Veracruz will be held to mark the anniversary. SEMAR plans outreach initiatives to emphasize naval aviation's strategic role, which currently supports operations including maritime patrol and counternarcotics enforcement. The Navy's fleet consists of 138 aircraft, including 65 helicopters and 73 fixed-wing platforms.
