Mexico Invests MX$37 Billion in Baja California Infrastructure, Including Tijuana Viaduct
Mexico's government, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, announced a MX$37 billion investment for infrastructure in Baja California, including roads, education, and water systems. The investment aims to create 64,257 jobs. Key projects include the inauguration of Tijuana's elevated viaduct, a two-stage project totaling 11.4 km, designed to significantly reduce travel times. Additionally, MX$16.7 billion will be allocated for water infrastructure, including a new desalination plant in Rosarito.

The Mexican Federal Government has announced a MX$37 billion (US$2.13 billion) investment in Baja California's infrastructure, as stated by President Claudia Sheinbaum. Of this, MX$21.41 billion (US$1.23 billion) is allocated for transportation projects, including Tijuana's elevated viaduct, which aims to alleviate congestion in a high-traffic area.
The viaduct, spanning 11.4 km, is expected to reduce travel times from 34 minutes to 12 minutes. The project has generated 6,440 jobs during its first stage. Additionally, MX$16.7 billion will be directed towards water infrastructure, including a new desalination plant in Rosarito, which will enhance water availability for Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito.
