MGA Thermal Secures $3.25M ARENA Funding for Thermal Energy Storage Commercialization
ENERGY STORAGE
MGA Thermal obtained $3.25 million in funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to expedite the commercialization of its thermal energy storage (TES) technology. The funding will support five front-end engineering design (FEED) studies focused on electrifying process heat for industrial customers.
The TES technology utilizes patented Miscibility Gap Alloy (MGA) blocks, allowing for energy storage in solid-to-liquid phases with an efficiency of up to 93%. The studies aim to advance commercial opportunities and inform industry on thermal energy storage adoption. MGA Thermal is also developing a 180 MWh TESA project in Western Australia.
