MHI and ITB Extend Collaboration on Ammonia-Based Clean Power Research
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Indonesia's Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) have renewed their research collaboration to advance ammonia-based clean power generation, building on previous studies of ammonia combustion for gas turbines. This partnership aims to enhance the safe use of ammonia as a carbon-free fuel and support Indonesia's decarbonization goals, aligning with the country's target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. Their collaboration, which began in 2020, continues to focus on next-generation clean energy solutions.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Indonesia's Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) have signed a new research agreement to advance their collaboration on ammonia-based clean power generation. This agreement builds on previous studies focused on ammonia combustion for gas turbine systems, aiming to enhance the safe application of ammonia as a carbon-free fuel.
The partnership seeks to strengthen technical knowledge to support Indonesia's decarbonization goals. MHI and ITB's collaboration began with a memorandum of understanding in 2020, which was extended in 2022, focusing on next-generation clean energy solutions. The current agreement continues this collaboration, aligning with Indonesia's target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.
