Microsoft has postponed the Gaines Township Planning Commission meeting to consider the rezoning of a 40.5-acre property for a data center from February 12 to late March. The delay allows Microsoft to update its application and organize a community meeting to discuss revised plans.

The property at 7147 Patterson Ave. SE, part of a 316-acre site acquired in October 2024 for $45.3 million, is proposed to be rezoned from large-scale planned unit development to light industrial. This marks the second delay in the planning process, with a previous public hearing canceled due to venue capacity issues.
