Microsoft Initiates Phase 2 of Data Center Construction in Køge, Denmark
Microsoft has begun Phase 2 of its data center construction in Køge, Denmark, with excavation work starting and completion expected by April 2028. The company plans to launch a cloud region, Denmark East, later this year, with facilities across the country. This expansion follows Microsoft's initial announcement to enter Denmark in late 2020 and includes ongoing projects in Roskilde and Høje-Taastrup, where the latter will provide waste heat to around 6,000 homes.

Microsoft has commenced Phase 2 of its data center project in Køge, Denmark, with excavation work underway and construction set to complete by April 2028. The company plans to launch a cloud region, Denmark East, in 2023, utilizing data centers in Køge, Roskilde, and Høje-Taastrup.
The Høje-Taastrup facility will supply waste heat to approximately 6,000 residences. All energy consumption for the new cloud region will be matched with 100 percent carbon-free energy through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
