Microsoft has entered a partnership with AMD for Helios, a complete rack-scale system designed for AI infrastructure. Helios includes components such as 72 Instinct MI455X accelerators, EPYC Venice CPUs, and AMD's networking solutions, targeting a market currently dominated by NVIDIA.
The system can deliver up to 31 TB of HBM4 memory and performance metrics of 2.9 exaFLOPS in FP4 and 1.4 exaFLOPS in FP8. AMD anticipates volume deployments by the second half of 2026, contingent on commercial product development by partners. This initiative could help AMD capture market share in the AI sector, although NVIDIA maintains a strong advantage with its CUDA ecosystem.
